About this service
What is a winmail.dat file?
If Microsoft Outlook is badly configured it sends attachments as a file called "winmail.dat" or "ATT0001.dat".A winmail.dat file is a ‘package of information’ sent with a Microsoft Outlook email, allowing it to retain all its original data and features – its files, fonts and format, for example. If the recipient is also using Outlook, this ‘package’ can be automatically decoded, if not, the winmail.dat file will appear in addition to your message.
What can I do with this extractor?
This service helps you to simply convert winmail.dat or ATT0001.dat files and extract the contained files into accessible, readable files. When you upload your winmail.dat attachment, we extract all contained files and save them for you to download them. After that, you can download the attached files from the results page.Note: Not every winmail.dat attachment contains files– it may include information about the email’s layout and styling.
Also, our service is unable to extract images that have been pasted directly into an email.
